Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio is an American actor. She is famous for her roles as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well on ABC's Lost television show. Following the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington, Ohio to live in Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first part as the title character in the web-based video series Rachel's Room in 2001. The film for television Murder in Greenwich that she appeared in, where she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She was the main role for two seasons, and won an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace would like to be on film more frequently, having starred opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. In addition, she appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and also starred alongside Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. The role was reprised for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. The role she plays is Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for the stars and catches the attention of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a young teenager as she was cast in minor role in films made from her father. In addition, she was a part of her brother on the 2001 famous film Donnie Darko. Then she appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her the Golden Globe Award nomination. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. Nominated to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role on the film Crazy Heart, (2009). Following that she continued to appear in comedy films along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Will Not Back Down (12). She also played the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played as well as a singer on the set of Frank (2014) and The lead on The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. In 2021, Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
